Inner Space,
by Aryeh Kaplan
Based on a series of intimate lectures, the foundations of Kabbalah are presented by a true scholar of the topic. Although largely an introduction, Rabbi Kaplan’s words are heavy with spiritual perception, laying out the major kabbalistic concepts in ways that draw the reader into a desire for more information. The notes provided are also full of meaningful revelations and allusions leaving breadcrumbs for further investigation. A classic among works on Jewish Kabbalah, it is worth careful digestion and return visits.

Shomer Emunim,
by Rabbi Yosef Ergas, translated by Rabbi Avinoam Fraenkel
A work of immense undertaking, the important kabbalistic text of Shomer Emunim is presented here in a new English translation. Consisting of an imagined debate between a kabbalist and a non-kabbalist, key concepts are presented and explained. The book’s second half is an immersive treatment of traditional Jewish Kabbalah by the translator, addressing significant topics with attention and extensive notes throughout. At over 1,000 pages, this overview of Kabbalah is a must have for any serious student of the topic.

The Essential Kabbalah,
by Daniel C. Matt
Presented by a scholar in the field who also recently translated the central kabbalistic text of the Zohar in text-critical form, this serves as a classic introduction to Jewish Kabbalah presented in an accessible fashion. Important passages from traditional kabbalistic texts throughout the ages are shared in topical form, providing brief portraits of kabbalistic thought from the texts themselves. It works well as an introduction and reference for explaining simply some of the concepts that might be more complex to otherwise express.

The Secret Doctrine of the Gaon of Vilna:
Vol. 1 - Mashiach ben Yoseph and the Messianic Role of the Torah, Kabbalah and Science

and

Vol. 2 - The Josephic Messiah, Leviathan, Metatron, and the Sacred Serpent
by Rabbi Joel David Bakst

Weaving cutting-edge insights of quantum physics into traditional concepts of Jewish Kabbalah, these two volumes use as a springboard the important text of Kol Hator to emphasize what it means to live in a broken reality intended to serve as an interface with the Creator. Focusing on deep notions surrounding the active redemptive plan in which mankind is irrevocably tethered, Rabbi Bakst offers hope for drawing closer to the Creator and living in a way that welcomes the Messiah who will transform this world into a place where holiness is at home and the realms of heaven dictate the reality of the physical.

Although these two above volumes from Rabbi Bakst can be read together satisfyingly as a stand-alone work, their content will be even further appreciated by the reader if one first reads the book upon which several key concepts are drawn: Kol Hator. While several versions are available of the text, the edition that is shared here in the Amazon Affiliate link is the only complete version in English, containing material from the original Hebrew left out of other translations.
